Veteran Welcome Reception

New and current student veterans are invited to attend. Student veterans will connect with resources, services, Veteran Friendly Offices, and other student veterans. This welcome reception is a great opportunity to meet Veteran Alliance of Texas State, meet prospective mentors, and learn about resources and opportunities at Texas State.    Food and prizes provided.  Enter a drawing for gift baskets sponsored by Veterans Alliance of Texas State and University Federal Credit Union

 

Veterans Alliance of Texas State (VATS) Monthly Information Meeting:

Join us each month for updates and information pertaining to VATS officer meetings, events, socials and projects. Open to all student veterans attending Texas State University.

 

Monthly Veterans Luncheon:

VATS provides free food as part of a series of presentations about off- and on-campus resources and networking opportunities for student veterans.

 

Game Day Tailgating: Fall Semesters - Select and Home Games Only

Come hang out with your local student veterans to support the Texas State Football Team and Athletic Department.  Food and refreshments provided for active members. Dates for these tailgates will be updated at a later time.

 

Veterans Graduation Reception: LBJSC Ballroom; Date TDB

Celebrated at end of each Fall and Spring Semester. This reception recognizes the academic achievements and contributions of student veterans at Texas State University. If you are or someone you know is graduating this semester, then please register to participate.

Your Opportunities

The Student Conservation Association (SCA) offers training programs to help returning veterans transition to civilian life and prepare for careers in conservation. Veterans who successfully complete these programs earn certifications in wildland firefighting, chainsaw operation, wilderness medicine, and more.

G.I. Jobs magazine has ranked Texas State University in the top 15% of military friendly colleges. We have been ranked in the top 15% by this magazine since 2009 and find it an honor to serve those who have sacrificed so much for their country.

Military Advanced Education (MAE) has awarded Texas State University the designation of a Top Military-Friendly University in its 2017 Guide to Military-Friendly Colleges & Universities, just released in print, and available online.

From community colleges to state universities, online universities and nationally known centers of higher learning, MAE’s 2017 Guide to Military-Friendly Colleges & Universities provides potential students with information about institutions that go out of their way to give back to our men and women in uniform.

 

Texas State University was once again selected in the Military Times Best for Vets: Colleges 2016 rankings and is ranked #29 in the nation! The full rankings are available online at MilitaryTimes.com.

The organization comprising Army Times, Navy Times, Air Force Times and Marine Corps Times placed a new emphasis on academic rigor this year when conducting and scoring the fourth annual Best for Vets: Colleges survey, a highly respected 150-question analysis of a school’s complete offerings for veterans. The Military Times Best for Vets distinction recognizes and rewards our school for its commitment to providing opportunities to America’s veterans.
